Late 18th Century English Dresser Base

$5,175.00

A Very Attractive 18th Century, George III Period Oak Dresser Base, Of Normal Proportions, Having Well Figured Rectangular Top Over Three Frieze Drawers, With Replacement Brass Plate Handles, Raised On Elegant Square Upright Supports With Original Potboard.
As suggested by the name the original purpose of a potboard shelf was to store all manner of pots and pans. These pots and pans were often still wet, very heavy, or possibly still hot when placed back onto the storage shelf and this is the reason that we regularly find potboard shelves replaced on antique dresser bases. The potboard shelf on this example is however original.
