19th Century French Coffer Bench

This is an amazing antique piece! Dating to the early 19th century, this bench/coffer combo has a simple but appealing design. Slightly inset drawer panels, curved back with turned spindles, and gently curving arms are nicely accented by brass nail heads throughout the piece. Coffers are one of the first recorded types of furniture, which adds a unique historical aspect to this piece. They were originally designed for functionality and storage, but as time progressed became works of art as well. This piece is an extra treat because it is both a bench and coffer at the same time. The seat of the bench opens to show a large storage compartment. This would be a perfect piece to use in an entryway, kitchen, or living room or sunroom!
